Carisa Kelly has over 25 years of experience as a costume designer.  Well-versed in the intricate journey of transforming a two-dimensional sketch into a living, breathing piece of art, Carisa seamlessly blends the creative process with robust production expertise.

Throughout her distinguished career—ranging from her early days as a Broadway assistant to designing for countless film and theater productions—she has successfully managed budgets and teams of all sizes. She intimately understands the rigorous deadlines of production and knows that while a designer can dream up a vision, it is the dedicated team behind the scenes that makes it possible. This deep appreciation for the specialized ecosystem of craftspeople required to bring a production to life is the primary reason she founded The ReThread Project a nonprofit focused on the costume and fashion industries. Aiming to protect and nurture New York City's unique manufacturing resources.

Carisa’s lifelong love for the craft began at age five when she attended her first play, and blossomed at age eight when her mother taught her how to sew.
